MA Governance Pilot Program

Last year, during the global consultations led by the Independent Governance Reform Commission (IGRC), numerous MAs raised concerns about the quality of national level boards and governance structures. To address this, the IGRC’s final report, which was endorsed by the General Assembly, recommended the creation of an MA Governance Strengthening Program.

Following through with this recommendation, IPPF is now launching the pilot of an MA Governance Strengthening Program, through which IPPF will work with up to ten MAs in strengthening organizational governance.

MAs selected to participate in the program will receive locally-sourced, expert technical assistance over a 5-6 month period. The program will involve two phases: an analytical phase, which will involve an evaluation of existing governance; and a development phase, where MAs will receive tailored support based on the specific needs of each MA as determined by the phase one analysis.

Learnings from the experience of the selected MAs will be documented for the benefit of all MAs and for future governance review and strengthening processes.
